“I always dreamt of getting married at Gilston Manor. Loretta who owns the venue, is very good friends with my parents and whenever Carey and I would talk about getting married we always talked about it being there. We changed venues due to the Covid19 restrictions, caterers and equipment hire businesses were unable to deliver things for the wedding which was supposed to be 28.04.20 so we made a major decision to bring it forward by a week and change locations.”
Where did you both meet? Carey saw me at Christmas carols in 2015 and then in 2016 at the exact same Christmas carols we met. Ever since then we’ve been together.
Tell me about the proposal: We went for dinner at Moana on my birthday. All day my family was being weird and I didn’t hear much from Carey's family. After dinner Carey asked me if I wanted to go sit on the beach for a bit so we did and then my mum called him to ask where we were. On our drive home he was being quiet but I just thought my family had a surprise at home for me for my birthday. When we got home he went straight inside and my sister met me at the front door with a blindfold. Whilst walking in I still had no idea he was proposing and then I heard the song “this is why I love you” come on and she took my blindfold off. He was standing outside with candles and rose petals all around him and all our family and friends were there.
Why did you choose your venue? I always dreamt of getting married at Gilston Manor. Loretta who owns the venue, is very good friends with my parents and whenever Carey and I would talk about getting married we always talked about it being there. We changed venues due to the Covid19 restrictions, caterers and equipment hire businesses were unable to deliver things for the wedding which was supposed to be 28.04.20 so we made a major decision to bring it forward a week and change locations.
Did you have a wedding theme or what was your inspiration? We wanted a very formal wedding. I love white roses and greenery so we followed that theme throughout the entire wedding.
Funniest moment of the day: When our cousin caught the bouquet. She came from out of nowhere and there was no chance any one else was catching it.
Favourite memory from the day: Our entrance is our favourite memory. It was the best 5 minutes of our lives.
Advice for other Brides and Grooms: The lead up to the wedding holds memories you’ll cherish forever so take it all in and don’t stress about the small things because once it’s all over the small things don’t matter.
What did you love most about the photography on the day and the final images? We felt so comfortable in front of the camera and every decision about where photos were taken was up to us. Danielle made us feel so relaxed and created a vibe that felt like it was just us 2 and no cameras around us. We had a large bridal party and she managed to gain everyone’s attention and made everyone feel comfortable, nothing was rushed and our bridal party made so many memories just in the short time she was taking photos of us. She captured absolutely every photo we imagined from our wedding day and we can’t wait to one day show our children the photos she created for us.
